Hi everyone! Having successfully published my novel, Somebody's Daughter, for Kindle, I've gone on to self-publish a collection selected and edited from my blog, Outsider Girls Write. Press Release and Bio:
Outsider Girls Write is a collection of 74 short shorts (each less than two pages long), excerpted from my biweekly blog. I call my girls “Outsider Girls” because the girls in my head tend to be outside the mainstream. Although they are not the popular girls, or even the average girls, they have a lot to say. Some of the girls who write here also appear in novels or short stories of mine, while others have only begun to raise their voices loud enough to be heard. They have all originated in my biweekly blog, www.outsidergirlswrite.blogspot.com, a.k.a. OGW.
Meet the grrlz!
Shelley Stoehr has authored five award-winning novels for Young Adults, including the still popular, award-winning, Crosses. Shelley has published short stories in three Young Adult anthologies, most recently a short story version of Somebody’s Daughter in the anthology Truth and Dare. According to Kirkus, “With remarkably few exceptions, the short stories in this collection exemplify the best of the form, drawing readers immediately into the lives of characters who confront the hard truths of alienation, love, trauma and sex.”
Stoehr is known as edgy, hip Young Adult author,” and has a reputation for being truthful and real for older teens. School Library Journal said that “Stoehr’s narrative flow is a strength, as is her ability to capture the rhythms, attitudes, and feelings of teens”, and blogger Dave Kiersh wrote, “Stoehr writes about young women in a way that few others do. She presents characters and gives a voice to girls that are seldom heard about in today's commodified popular culture.”
